We had an exciting weekend at the Figment Festival on Governor’s Island (June 10th-12th) where we did a project called Identity Politics. LUSH VALLEY officers roamed the island with ballot boxes enticing citizens to vote on LUSH VALLEY’s national identity. They voted on the national flower, bird, food, colors, motto, slogan, and even took suggestions for the ideal composer of LUSH VALLEY’s national anthem. Voters notarized their votes with a green thumbprint, and in exchange they received a packet of organic corn seed with information about our show. We are currently tallying the votes, and will announce them on our blog soon! They will also be incorporated into our production this fall, which runs from September 7-24. Stay tuned!
Please join us for Identity Politics, a participatory performance event where the public decides on a new national identity for LUSH VALLEY. Identity Politics is part of the Figment Festival, a participatory art festival on Governor’s Island the weekend of June 10th-12th.
